History

The Institute for Thermodynamics and Thermal Engineering (ITW), University of Stuttgart was founded in 1962 and from then on directed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Emil Theodor Schmidt (1962-1973) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Erich Hahne (1973-2000). From April 2000 to July 2010 was Prof. Dr.-Ing. hab. Hans Müller-Steinhagen, Institute Director in personal union also director of operating in related fields of the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Since August 2010, Prof. Müller-Steinhagen is Rector of TU Dresden. Currently about 35 employees and more than 30 student assistants and Master workers are employed at ITW.
