Research and Testing Centre for Thermal Solar Systems (TZS)

The Institute of Thermodynamics and Thermal Engineering (ITW) has been working in the field of thermal solar energy since the early 1970s. In 1993, the Research and Testing Centre for Thermal Solar Systems (TZS) was established.

Meanwhile, TZS is the largest testing centre for solar thermal components and systems in Europe. TZS has, hence, unique and well established experience in testing the full spectrum of solar thermal products as well as in conducting research and development projects with partners from research organisations and industry.

In 2002, TZS was accredited (pdf icon) by the DAP (Deutsches Akkreditierungssystem Prüfwesen GmbH) for testing of thermal solar systems and their components according to European standards EN 12975/EN ISO 9806, EN 12976 and ENV 12977. Therefore, we are authorized to test according to the requirements of the European quality label "Solar Keymark". Furthermore, tests according to the regulations of the U.S. certification authority SRCC (Solar Rating and Certification Cooperation) are performed.

Since the beginning of 2017, TZS is also a member of the "Global Solar Certification Networks". This provides an excellent basis that the tests performed by TZS tests are globally accepted by numerous product certification centres.

The spin-off company SWT Technologyextends and complements the range of services provided
by TZS.
